And it came to pass after this, that Avshalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

These were all the sons of David, beside the sons of the concubines, and Tamar their sister.

The third, Avshalom the son of Maachah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur: the fourth, AdoniYAH the son of Haggith:

And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Yaakov, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.

And Yaakov served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.

And Yaakov loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.

That the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.
