And Yoav sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:
And David said to Yoav, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.
And Esav hated Yaakov because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esav said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Yaakov.
And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Yarden, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.
Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Yoav, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.
And it came to pass, when Achav heard that Naboth was dead, that Achav rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Yizreelite, to take possession of it.
