Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before YY , when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith YY .

The sacrifices of Elohim are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O Elohim, thou wilt not despise.

Seest thou how Achav humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith YY : but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

And when he was in affliction, he besought YY his Elohim, and humbled himself greatly before the Elohim of his fathers,

His prayer also, and how Elohim was intreated of him, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.

Turn again, and tell Hizkiyah-yahu the captain of my people, Thus saith YY , the Elohim of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of YY .

Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.

But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because YY 's flock is carried away captive.

Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness:

Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy Torah.

My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

And Nechemyah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the kohen the scribe, and the Lvim that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto YY your Elohim; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Torah.

And, behold, one of the children of Yisrael came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moshe, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Yisrael, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Elohim, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith YY .

Notwithstanding Hizkiyah-yahu humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, so that the wrath of YY came not upon them in the days of Hizkiyah-yahu.

Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
