So they feared YY , and made unto themselves of the lowest of them kohanim of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
Howbeit every nation made elohim of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Shomronim had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Shomron, which the kings of Yisrael had made to provoke YY to anger, Yoshiyah-yahu took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beit-El.
After this thing Yarovam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people kohanim of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the kohanim of the high places.
And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of Elohim is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:
Then they came to Zrubavel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your Elohim, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beit-El the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Yisrael: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
So these nations feared YY , and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
