Israeli Authorized Version

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Ashur, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Yisrael, which rise up against me.

In the days of Pekah king of Yisrael came Tiglathpileser king of Ashur, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and JaNoach, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilad, and Galil, all the land of Naftali, and carried them captive to Ashur.

Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our elohim: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

Thus saith YY ; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from YY .

And TilGatpilneser king of Ashur came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Ashur to help him.

And the Elohim of Yisrael stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Ashur, and the spirit of TilGatpilneser king of Ashur, and he carried them away, even the Reuvenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Mnasheh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.

And the king of Yisrael answered and said, My YY , O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.

And YY was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Ashur, and served him not.

Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Yaakov, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Plishtim, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

Thou hast played the whore also with the Ashurns, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.

And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Ashurns her neighbours,

She doted upon the Ashurns her neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.

What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

Efrayim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Ashur.
