We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Yhudah, and upon the south of Kalev; and we burned Ziklag with fire.
Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of YY is against you; O Kenaan, the land of the Plishtim, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
Therefore thus saith YY Elohim; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Plishtim, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.
And the king hath sent with him Zadok the kohen, and Natan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Yhoyada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule:
So Zadok the kohen, and Natan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Yhoyada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Shlomo to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Plishtim, and out of the land of Yhudah.
And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
And unto Kalev the son of Yfuneh he gave a part among the children of Yhudah, according to The Commandment of YY to Y'howshu`a, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hevron.
Now the name of the man was Naval; and the name of his wife Avigayil: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Kalev.
And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.
And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by Elohim, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.
