One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.
And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Efrayim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.
And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Plishti of Gat, Golyat by name, out of the armies of the Plishtim, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.
And the men of Yisrael said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Yisrael is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Yisrael.
