For, as YY liveth, which saveth Yisrael, though it be in Yhonatan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.
And the men of Yisrael were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
For as long as the son of Yishai liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
Then said he unto all Yisrael, Be ye on one side, and I and Yhonatan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.
