Christ was raised from death. And we know that he cannot die again. Death has no power over him now.

Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.

I am the one who lives. I was dead, but look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

So Christ can save those who come to God through him. Christ can do this forever, because he always lives and is ready to help people when they come before God.

But from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, everyone had to die. Adam died because he sinned by not obeying God’s command. But even those who did not sin that same way had to die. That one man, Adam, can be compared to Christ, the one who was coming in the future.

He was made a priest, but not because he met the requirement of being born into the right family. He became a priest by the power of a life that will never end.

So when we were baptized, we were buried with Christ and took part in his death. And just as Christ was raised from death by the wonderful power of the Father, so we can now live a new life.

Yes, when Christ died, he died to defeat the power of sin one time—enough for all time. He now has a new life, and his new life is with God.
