Yes, when Christ died, he died to defeat the power of sin one time—enough for all time. He now has a new life, and his new life is with God.

Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could be right with God.

Some were told the Good News before they died. They were criticized by others in their life here on earth. But it was God’s plan that they hear the Good News so that they could have a new life through the Spirit.

Christ himself suffered when he died for you, and with that one death he paid for your sins. He was not guilty, but he died for people who are guilty. He did this to bring all of you to God. In his physical form he was killed, but he was made alive by the Spirit.

He died for all so that those who live would not continue to live for themselves. He died for them and was raised from death so that they would live for him.

The law was without power because it was made weak by our sinful selves. But God did what the law could not do: He sent his own Son to earth with the same human life that everyone else uses for sin. God sent him to be an offering to pay for sin. So God used a human life to destroy sin.

In the same way, you should see yourselves as being dead to the power of sin and alive for God through Christ Jesus.

So they were not still dead, because he is the God only of living people. Yes, to God they are all still living.”

Christ was raised from death. And we know that he cannot die again. Death has no power over him now.
