Teach these laws to your children. Talk about these things when you sit in your houses, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.

You will tell these things to your children, and your children will tell their children, and your grandchildren will tell the people of the next generation.

But you must be careful! Be sure that as long as you live you never forget what you have seen. You must teach these things to your children and grandchildren.

Be sure to teach them to your children. Talk about these commands when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road. Talk about them when you lie down and when you get up.

Then, at the gates of Jerusalem, I can sing praises to you. I will be so happy because you saved me.”

I sing a song to give you thanks, and I tell about all the wonderful things you have done.

I will tell you what wise men would say, things they heard from their fathers and then freely passed on. They didn’t hide any secrets from me.

On this day you should tell your children, ‘We are having this festival because the Lord took me out of Egypt.’

When your children ask you, ‘Why are we doing this ceremony?’

People who are alive, people like me, are the ones who will praise you. Fathers should tell their children about how faithful you are.
