You have given him blessings that will last forever. You have given him the joy of being near you.

He loves goodness and justice. The Lord’s faithful love fills the earth.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in heaven.

You taught me how to live. You will come close to me and give me great joy.’ Psalm 16:8-11

God sent him, and he tells people what God says. God gives him the Spirit fully.

My goal each day will be to destroy the wicked living in our land. I will force all who do evil to leave the city of the Lord.

So Jesus is the kind of high priest we need. He is holy. He has no sin in him. He is pure and not influenced by sinners. And he is raised above the heavens.

These children are people with physical bodies. So Jesus himself became like them and had the same experiences they have. Jesus did this so that, by dying, he could destroy the one who has the power of death—the devil.

Jesus said to her, “You don’t need to hold on to me! I have not yet gone back up to the Father. But go to my followers and tell them this: ‘I am going back to my Father and your Father. I am going back to my God and your God.’”

Then he will say to you, ‘I don’t know you. Where did you come from? Get away from me! You are all people who do wrong!’

Then I will tell those people clearly, ‘Get away from me, you people who do wrong. I never knew you.’

Samuel took the horn with the oil in it, and poured the special oil on Jesse’s youngest son in front of his brothers. The Spirit of the Lord came on David with great power from that day on. Then Samuel went back home to Ramah.

This will happen when the special child is born. God will give us a son who will be responsible for leading the people. His name will be “Wonderful Counselor, Powerful God, Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace.”

He will judge the poor fairly and honestly. He will be fair when he decides what to do for the poor of the land. If he decides people should be beaten, he will give the command, and they will be beaten. If he decides people must die, he will give the command, and those evil people will be killed. Goodness and fairness will be like a belt he wears around his waist.
