“But my people did not listen to me. Israel did not obey me.

Whoever loves discipline loves to learn; whoever hates to be corrected is stupid.

They ignored my advice and refused to be corrected.

Then you will say, “Why didn’t I listen to my parents? Why didn’t I pay attention to my teachers? I didn’t want to be disciplined. I refused to be corrected.

That was because they had fought against what God said. They refused to listen to the advice of God Most High.

But they made fun of God’s prophets and refused to listen to them. They hated God’s messages. Finally, the Lord could not hold his anger any longer. He became angry with his people and there was nothing that could be done to stop it.

When that time comes, you will cry because of the king you chose. But the Lord won’t answer you at that time.”

I have good advice and common sense to offer. I have understanding and power.

Whoever stops living right will be punished. Whoever hates to be corrected will be destroyed.

“So this is what the Lord God All-Powerful, the God of Israel, says: ‘I said that many bad things would happen to Judah and Jerusalem. I will soon make all those bad things happen. I spoke to the people, but they refused to listen. I called out to them, but they didn’t answer me.’”

Then you came back crying to the Lord for help, but the Lord refused to listen to you.

The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they refused to listen.
