Matthew 26:69

While Peter was sitting outside in the yard, a servant girl came up to him. She said, “You were with Jesus, that man from Galilee.”

Then he left the yard. At the gate another girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

When Elijah heard the voice, he used his coat to cover his face and went to the entrance to the cave and stood there. Then a voice said to him, “Elijah, why are you here?”

Later, during the time of the census, a man named Judas came from Galilee. Many people joined his group, but he was also killed, and all his followers were scattered.

The Jewish leaders answered, “You must be from Galilee too! Study the Scriptures. You will find nothing about a prophet coming from Galilee.”

Other people said, “He is the Messiah.” And others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee.

But Nathanael said to Philip, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip answered, “Come and see.”

Peter followed Jesus but stayed back at a distance. He followed him to the yard of the high priest’s house. Peter went in and sat with the guards. He wanted to see what would happen to Jesus.

Then the leading priests and the older Jewish leaders had a meeting at the palace where the high priest lived. The high priest’s name was Caiaphas.

The crowds following Jesus answered, “This is Jesus. He is the prophet from the town of Nazareth in Galilee.”

Great blessings belong to those who don’t listen to evil advice, who don’t live like sinners, and who don’t join those who make fun of God.

There Elijah went into a cave and spent the night. Then the Lord said to him, “Elijah, why are you here?”

But Peter told everyone there that this was not true. “I don’t know what you are talking about,” he said.
