Matthew 26:18

Jesus answered, “Go into the city. Go to a man I know. Tell him that the Teacher says, ‘The chosen time is near. I will have the Passover meal with my followers at your house.’”

Jesus said to them, “The right time for me has not yet come, but any time is right for you to go.

After Jesus said these things, he looked toward heaven and prayed, “Father, the time has come. Give glory to your Son so that the Son can give glory to you.

It was almost time for the Jewish Passover festival. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go back to the Father. Jesus had always loved the people in the world who were his. Now was the time he showed them his love the most.

When Jesus said this, the people tried to grab him. But no one was able even to touch him, because the right time for him had not yet come.

So you go to the festival. I will not go now, because the right time for me has not yet come.”

Jesus said to them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to receive his glory.

I was with you every day in the Temple area. Why didn’t you try to arrest me there? But this is your time—the time when darkness rules.”

After Martha said these things, she went back to her sister Mary. She talked to Mary alone and said, “The Teacher is here. He is asking for you.”

While Jesus was still there speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. They said, “Your daughter is dead. There is no need to bother the Teacher.”

“You know that the day after tomorrow is Passover. On that day the Son of Man will be handed over to his enemies to be killed on a cross.”

And you should not be called ‘Master.’ You have only one Master, the Messiah.

“But you must not be called ‘Teacher.’ You are all equal as brothers and sisters. You have only one Teacher.

If anyone asks you why you are taking the donkeys, tell them, ‘The Master needs them. He will send them back soon.’”

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and said in Aramaic, “Rabboni,” which means “Teacher.”

So he went to Jesus and said, “Hello, Teacher!” Then Judas kissed him.

They obeyed and did what Jesus told them to do. They prepared the Passover meal.
