“Then the master called his servant in and said, ‘You evil servant. You begged me to forgive your debt, and I said you did not have to pay anything!

What the law says is for those who are under the law. It stops anyone from making excuses. And it brings the whole world under God’s judgment,

“Then the king said to him, ‘What a bad servant you are! I will use your own words to condemn you. You said that I am a hard man. You said that I even take money that I didn’t earn and gather food that I didn’t grow.

“The master answered, ‘You are a bad and lazy servant! You say you knew that I harvest what I did not plant and that I gather crops where I did not put any seed.

The master felt sorry for him. So he told the servant he did not have to pay. He let him go free.

All the other servants saw what happened. They felt very sorry for the man. So they went and told their master everything that happened.

So you should have given that other man who serves with you the same mercy I gave you.’

Yes, you must show mercy to others. If you do not show mercy, then God will not show mercy to you when he judges you. But the one who shows mercy can stand without fear before the Judge.
