Your enemies will be the people in your own house. A son will not honor his father. A daughter will turn against her mother. A daughter-in-law will turn against her mother-in-law.

These men are your own brothers. Members of your own family are making plans against you. People from your own family are shouting at you. Don’t trust them, even when they speak to you like friends.

My best friend, the one I trusted, the one who ate with me—even he has turned against me.

But it is you, the one so close to me, my companion, my good friend, who does this.
