Before God and Christ Jesus I give you a command. Jesus is the one who confessed that same wonderful truth when he stood before Pontius Pilate. And God is the one who gives life to everything. Now I tell you this:

Then Nathanael said, “Teacher, you are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel.”

They all said, “Then are you the Son of God?” Jesus said to them, “You are right in saying that I am.”

Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Yes, that is right.”

They kept coming up to him and saying, “Hail to the king of the Jews!” And they hit him in the face.

(At the top of the cross these words were written: “this is the king of the jews.”)

If he is really the Messiah, the king of Israel, he should come down from the cross now. When we see this, then we will believe in him.” The criminals on the crosses beside Jesus also said bad things to him.

Then they began shouting, “Welcome, king of the Jews!”

Jesus stood before Pilate, the governor, who asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Yes, that’s right.”

So Pilate went outside to them and asked, “What do you say this man has done wrong?”
