Luke 19:29

He came near Bethphage and Bethany, towns near the hill called the Mount of Olives. He sent out two of his followers.

Then Jesus left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.

Then the apostles went back to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. This mountain is about a half mile from Jerusalem.

At that time he will stand on the Mount of Olives, the hill east of Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives will split in half. Part of the mountain will move to the north, and part to the south. A deep valley will open up, from the east to the west.

Jesus led his followers out of Jerusalem almost to Bethany. He raised his hands and blessed his followers.

Jesus left the city and went to the Mount of Olives. His followers went with him. (He went there often.) He said to his followers, “Pray for strength against temptation.”

During the day Jesus taught the people in the Temple area. At night he went out of the city and stayed all night on the Mount of Olives.

Jesus was coming close to Jerusalem. He was already near the bottom of the Mount of Olives. The whole group of followers was happy. They were very excited and praised God. They thanked God for all the powerful things they had seen.

He said, “Go into the town you can see there. When you enter the town, you will find a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it, and bring it here to me.
