Some Jews began to complain about Jesus because he said, “I am the bread that comes down from heaven.”

I am the bread that gives life.

God’s bread is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

There was a large group of people there. Many of them were talking secretly to each other about Jesus. Some people said, “He is a good man.” But others said, “No, he fools the people.”

After Jesus said these things, many of his followers left and stopped following him.

When Jesus’ followers heard this, many of them said, “This teaching is hard. Who can accept it?”

These people always complain and find wrong in others. They always do the evil things they want to do. They boast about themselves. The only reason they say good things about others is to get what they want.

I am not like the bread that your ancestors ate. They ate that bread, but they still died. I am the bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

But Jesus said, “Stop complaining to each other.

Everyone saw this. They began to complain, “Look at the kind of man Jesus is staying with. Zacchaeus is a sinner!”

Then the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to complain, “Look, this man welcomes sinners and even eats with them!”

But the Pharisees and those who taught the law for the Pharisees began to complain to the followers of Jesus, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and other sinners?”

And don’t complain as some of them did. Because they complained, they were killed by the angel that destroys.

The Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent some priests and Levites to John to ask him, “Who are you?” He told them the truth.
