Jacob’s well was there. Jesus was tired from his long trip, so he sat down beside the well. It was about noon.

Jesus, our high priest, is able to understand our weaknesses. When Jesus lived on earth, he was tempted in every way. He was tempted in the same ways we are tempted, but he never sinned.

For this reason, Jesus had to be made like us, his brothers and sisters, in every way. He became like people so that he could be their merciful and faithful high priest in service to God. Then he could bring forgiveness for the people’s sins.

After the boat left the shore, a very bad storm began on the lake. The waves covered the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.

At noon the whole country became dark. The darkness continued for three hours.

Jesus ate nothing for 40 days and nights. After this, he was very hungry.

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that he gave up his heavenly riches for you. He gave up everything so that you could be richly blessed.

Jesus answered, “There are twelve hours of light in the day. Whoever walks in the day will not stumble and fall because they can see with the light from the sun.

He answered, “The foxes have holes to live in. The birds have nests. But the Son of Man has no place where he can rest his head.”

She gave birth to her first son. She wrapped him up well and laid him in a box where cattle are fed. She put him there because the guest room was full.

In Samaria Jesus came to the town called Sychar, which is near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

A Samaritan woman came to the well to get some water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.”

Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob? He is the one who gave us this well. He drank from it himself, and his sons and all his animals drank from it too.”
