Jeremiah 37:21

So King Zedekiah gave orders for Jeremiah to be kept in the courtyard of the guardhouse. And he ordered that Jeremiah should be given bread from the street bakers. He was given bread until there was no more bread in the city. So Jeremiah stayed under guard in the courtyard.

So Jeremiah stayed under guard in the courtyard of the guardhouse until the day Jerusalem was captured.

The men pulled Jeremiah up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah stayed under guard in the courtyard of the guardhouse.

By the ninth day of the fourth month of that year, the hunger in the city was very bad. There was no food left for the people in the city to eat.

At that time the army of the king of Babylon was surrounding the city of Jerusalem, and Jeremiah was under arrest in the courtyard of the guardhouse. This courtyard was at the palace of the king of Judah.

They will live safely in high places. They will be protected in high rock fortresses. They will always have food and water.

The famine was getting worse and worse in the city. By the 9th day of the fourth month, there was no more food for the common people in the city.

God will save you from death when there is famine. He will protect you from the sword when there is war.

And because I tell that message, I am suffering. I am even bound with chains like someone who has really done wrong. But God’s message is not bound.

So don’t be ashamed to tell people about our Lord Jesus. And don’t be ashamed of me—I am in prison for the Lord. But suffer with me for the Good News. God gives us the strength to do that.

I have the work of speaking for that Good News, and that is what I am doing now, here in prison. Pray that when I tell people the Good News, I will speak without fear as I should.

So, as a prisoner for the Lord, I beg you to live the way God’s people should live, because he chose you to be his.

Paul stayed two full years in his own rented house. He welcomed all the people who came and visited him.

When we came to Rome, Paul was allowed to live alone. But a soldier stayed with him to guard him.

But after two years, Porcius Festus became governor. So Felix was no longer governor. But he left Paul in prison to please the Jews.

So Peter was kept in jail, but the church was constantly praying to God for him.

What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need.

Our skin is hot like an oven. We have a high fever because of our hunger.

“Then it happened just as the Lord said. My cousin Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guardhouse. Hanamel said to me, ‘Jeremiah, buy my field near the town of Anathoth, in the land of the tribe of Benjamin. Buy that land for yourself because it is your right to buy it and own it.’” So I knew that this was a message from the Lord.

To the Lord, a king’s mind is like a ditch used to water the fields. He can lead the king wherever he wants him to go.

When people live to please the Lord, even their enemies will be at peace with them.

When trouble comes, good people will not be destroyed. When times of hunger come, good people will have plenty to eat.

So trust in the Lord and do good. Live on your land and be dependable.

While Jeremiah was still locked up in the courtyard of the guardhouse, the message from the Lord came to him a second time:

So the officials took Jeremiah and put him into Malkijah’s cistern. Malkijah was the king’s son. The cistern was in the courtyard of the guardhouse. They used ropes to lower Jeremiah into the cistern. The cistern didn’t have any water in it, only mud. And Jeremiah sank down into the mud.

he had Jeremiah the prophet beaten. And he had Jeremiah’s hands and feet locked between large blocks of wood. This was at the Upper Gate of Benjamin of the Lord’s Temple.
