Jacob lived in Egypt 17 years, so he was 147 years old.

After that Shem lived 500 years. He had other sons and daughters.

Here on earth we don’t have a city that lasts forever. But we are waiting for the city that we will have in the future.

We are only strangers traveling through this world like our ancestors. Our time on earth is like a passing shadow, and we cannot stop it.

So Methuselah lived a total of 969 years; then he died.

So we always have confidence. We know that while we live in this body, we are away from the Lord.

Then Pharaoh said to him, “How old are you?”

Leave me alone and let me be happy before I am dead and gone.
