I will change your name from Abram to Abraham, because I am making you the father of many nations.

You are the Lord, the God who chose Abram. You led him from Ur in Babylonia. You changed his name to Abraham.

God said to Abraham, “I will give Sarai, your wife, a new name. Her new name will be Sarah.

Then the man said, “Your name will not be Jacob. Your name will now be Israel. I give you this name because you have fought with God and with men, and you have won.”
