Ezra 10:5

So Ezra got up. He made the leading priests, the Levites, and all the Israelites promise to do what he said.

So I told the men that they were wrong. I said bad things to them. I hit some of them, and I pulled out their hair. I forced them to make a promise in God’s name. I said to them, “You must not marry the daughters of these foreigners. Don’t let their daughters marry your sons, and don’t let your daughters marry the sons of these foreigners.

Then the rich people and the officials said, “We will give it back and not demand anything more from them. Nehemiah, we will do as you say.” Then I called the priests. I made the rich people and the officials promise to God that they would do what they said.

But Jesus said nothing. Again the high priest said to Jesus, “You are now under oath. I command you by the power of the living God to tell us the truth. Tell us, are you the Messiah, the Son of God?”

Perfume and incense make you feel good, and so does good advice from a friend.

People are happy when they give a good answer. And there is nothing better than the right word at the right time.

Teach the wise, and they will become wiser. Instruct those who live right, and they will gain more knowledge.

Even the wise could become wiser by listening to these proverbs. They will gain understanding and learn to solve difficult problems.

Now let us make an agreement before our God to send away all these women and their children. We will do that to follow the advice of Ezra and the people who respect the laws of our God. We will obey God’s law.
