Exodus 19:1

The Israelites reached the desert of Sinai in the third month of their trip from Egypt.

Then all the Israelites left Elim. They reached the western Sinai desert, between Elim and Mount Sinai, on the 15th day of the second month after leaving Egypt.

You should watch over the animal until the 14th day of the month. On that day all the people of the community of Israel must kill these animals just before dark.

They left Rephidim and camped in the desert of Sinai.

“This month will be the first month of the year for you.

God said, “You can do it because I will be with you. This will be the proof that I am sending you: After you lead the people out of Egypt, you will come and worship me on this mountain.”

On that same day the Lord led all the Israelites out of the country of Egypt. The people left in groups.

“On the first day of the first month, set up the Holy Tent, that is, the Meeting Tent.

The Lord again said to Moses in the desert of Sinai,

“At Mount Horeb the Lord our God spoke to us. He said, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough.

Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Mount Horeb. The Lord said to me, ‘Gather the people together to listen to what I have to say. Then they will learn to respect me as long as they live on earth. And they will teach these things to their children.’

“On the day the Lord spoke to you from the fire at Mount Horeb, you did not see him—there was no shape for God.

The Lord our God made an agreement with us at Mount Horeb.

I brought the family of Israel out of Egypt. I led them into the desert.

The Lord spoke to Moses in the Meeting Tent. This was in the desert of Sinai. It was on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites left Egypt. He said to Moses:

So the Israelites began their journey. They left the desert of Sinai and traveled until the cloud stopped in the desert of Paran.
