These things happened during the first year that Darius son of Ahasuerus was king. Darius was a Mede by birth, but he was appointed to be the king of Babylon.

“During the first year that Darius the Mede was king, I stood up to support Michael in his fight against the prince of Persia.

A man named Darius the Mede became the new king. Darius was about 62 years old.

So Daniel served the king until the first year that Cyrus was king.

So Daniel was successful during the time Darius was king and when Cyrus the Persian was king.
