Acts 23:9

All these Jews began shouting louder and louder. Some of the teachers of the law, who were Pharisees, stood up and argued, “We find nothing wrong with this man. Maybe an angel or a spirit really did speak to him.”

I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’

The people standing there heard the voice. They said it was thunder. But others said, “An angel spoke to him!”

and left the room. They were talking to each other. They said, “This man has done nothing worthy of being put to death or even put in jail.”

When I judged him, I did not find him guilty of any crime worthy of death. But he asked to be judged by Caesar, so I decided to send him to Rome.

This is what I learned: The Jews said this man did some things that were wrong. But these charges were about their own Jewish laws, and there was nothing worthy of jail or death.

When some teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw Jesus eating with such bad people, they asked his followers, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

When people live to please the Lord, even their enemies will be at peace with them.

Doing that would make the Lord jealous. Do you really want to do that? Do you think we are stronger than he is?

Last night an angel came to me from God—the God I worship and belong to.

(The Sadducees believe that after people die, they will not live again as an angel or as a spirit. But the Pharisees believe in both.)

God gave these people the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. So how could I object to what God wanted to do?”

He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”

But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You might even be fighting against God himself!” The Jewish leaders agreed with what Gamaliel said.

A third time Pilate said to the people, “Why? What wrong has he done? He is not guilty. I can find no reason to kill him. So I will let him go free after I punish him a little.”

Pilate said to the leading priests and the people, “I find nothing wrong with this man.”

But the Pharisees and those who taught the law for the Pharisees began to complain to the followers of Jesus, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and other sinners?”

He said, “You are right, and I am wrong. You were good to me, even though I have been bad to you.

Samuel said to the Israelites, “The Lord and his chosen king are witnesses today. They heard what you said—that you found nothing wrong with me.” The people answered, “Yes, the Lord is witness!”

Then the rulers and all the people spoke. They said to the priests and the prophets, “Jeremiah must not be killed. What he told us comes from the Lord our God.”

“But something happened to me on my way to Damascus. It was about noon when I came close to Damascus. Suddenly a bright light from heaven shined all around me.
