The next morning David wrote a letter to Joab and made Uriah carry the letter.
“Nothing can hide its evil as well as the human mind. It can be very sick, and no one really understands it.
People cannot really help. You cannot depend on them. Compared to God, they are nothing— no more than a gentle puff of air!
You are nothing but a hired killer, making plans to hurt people and making up lies!
Don’t let me do what I know is wrong. Don’t let sin control me. If you help me, I can be pure and free from sin.
So why did you ignore my command? Why did you do what I say is wrong? You let the Ammonites kill Uriah the Hittite, and you took his wife. It is as if you yourself killed Uriah in war.
