My friends, don’t try to punish anyone who does wrong to you. Wait for God to punish them with his anger. In the Scriptures the Lord says, “I am the one who punishes; I will pay people back.”Deuteronomy 32:35

This is what we are proud of, and I can say with a clear conscience that it is true: In everything we have done in the world, we have done it with an honest and pure heart from God. And this is even truer in what we have done with you. We did this by God’s grace, not by the kind of wisdom the world has.

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else that hurts the faith of your brother or sister.

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you begin ruling as king!”

The Lord is a God who punishes people. God, come punish them.

He is the God who punishes my enemies for me, the one who puts people under my rule.

The Lord pays every man for what he does—he rewards him if he does right, and he punishes him if he does wrong. The Lord gave you to me today, but I wouldn’t harm the Lord’s chosen king.

His servants went to Carmel with this message, “David sent us to get you. He wants you to be his wife.”

God bless you for your good judgment. You kept me from killing innocent people today.

Let the Lord be the judge. Let him decide between you and me. He will support me and show that I am right. He will save me from you.”

The Lord promised to do many good things for you, and he will keep his promises. He will make you leader over Israel.
