“Those who wrong others will be brought to this altar. If they are not guilty, they will make an oath and promise that they are innocent.

Please listen from heaven and judge them. If they are guilty, please show us that they are guilty. And if they are innocent, please show us that they are not guilty.

So the king did not do what the people wanted. The Lord caused this to happen. He did this in order to keep the promise he made to Jeroboam son of Nebat when he sent Ahijah, the prophet from Shiloh, to speak to him.

A wise son listens to his father’s advice, but a proud son will not listen to correction.

There is a time to kill and a time to heal. There is a time to destroy and a time to build.
