Pride comes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.

Wake yourself, wake yourself up! Stand up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk the cup of His fury from the hand of the Lord; you who have drunk the goblet to the dregs — the cup that causes people to stagger.

This is what your Lord says — Yahweh, even your God, who defends His people — “Look, I have removed the cup of staggering from your hand; that goblet, the cup of My fury. You will never drink it again.

“For this is what the Lord says: If those who do not deserve to drink the cup must drink it, can you possibly remain unpunished? You will not remain unpunished, for you must drink it too.

“Even if I have to die with You,” Peter told Him, “I will never deny You! ” And all the disciples said the same thing.

Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”

Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, Your will be done.”

But all this has happened so that the prophetic Scriptures would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted Him and ran away.

And He said, “Abba, Father! All things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”

But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how it consumes Me until it is finished!

“Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me — nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.”

At that, Jesus said to Peter, “Sheathe your sword! Am I not to drink the cup the Father has given Me? ”

In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings.

You ask and don’t receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your evil desires.
