Then he looked, and there at his head was a loaf of bread baked over hot stones, and a jug of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

All eyes look to You, and You give them their food at the proper time.

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love.

He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, and some of them have come a long distance.”

“And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.

When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said, “Don’t cry.”

Therefore, He had to be like His brothers in every way, so that He could become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin.

He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he is also subject to weakness.
