But sighing deeply in His spirit, He said, “Why does this generation demand a sign? I assure you: No sign will be given to this generation! ”

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; He was despised, and we didn’t value Him.

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”

An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.

After looking around at them with anger and sorrow at the hardness of their hearts, He told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

And He was amazed at their unbelief. Now He was going around the villages in a circuit, teaching.

Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed deeply and said to him, “Ephphatha!” (that is, “Be opened! ”).

Then He left them, got on board the boat again, and went to the other side.

He replied to them, “You unbelieving generation! How long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to Me.”

As He approached and saw the city, He wept over it,
