“Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat! ”

Then the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, “Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ritually unclean hands? ”

When the Pharisee saw this, he was amazed that He did not first perform the ritual washing before dinner.

Peter said to them, “You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner. But God has shown me that I must not call any person common or unclean.

“ ‘No, Lord! ’ I said. ‘For nothing common or ritually unclean has ever entered my mouth! ’

(I know and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. Still, to someone who considers a thing to be unclean, to that one it is unclean. )

How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Nothing profane will ever enter it: no one who does what is vile or false, but only those written in the Lamb’s book of life.
