Then He commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them. He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.

He took the seven loaves and the fish, and He gave thanks, broke them, and kept on giving them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.

Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed deeply and said to him, “Ephphatha!” (that is, “Be opened! ”).

And He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

It was as He reclined at the table with them that He took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.

They did so, and had them all sit down.

Everyone ate and was filled. Then they picked up 12 baskets of leftover pieces.

Then Jesus took the loaves, and after giving thanks He distributed them to those who were seated — so also with the fish, as much as they wanted.

Some boats from Tiberias came near the place where they ate the bread after the Lord gave thanks.

After he said these things and had taken some bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all of them, and when he broke it, he began to eat.

Whoever observes the day, observes it for the honor of the Lord. Whoever eats, eats for the Lord, since he gives thanks to God; and whoever does not eat, it is for the Lord that he does not eat it, yet he thanks God.

If I partake with thanks, why am I slandered because of something I give thanks for?

gave thanks, broke it, and said, “This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

If you go quickly, you can catch up with him before he goes to the high place to eat. The people won’t eat until he comes because he must bless the sacrifice; after that, the guests can eat. Go up immediately — you can find him now.”
