When the king heard the word that the man of God had cried out against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar and said, “Arrest him! ” But the hand he stretched out against him withered, and he could not pull it back to himself.

Woe to the worthless shepherd who deserts the flock! May a sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm wither away and his right eye go completely blind! ”

Jesus was going all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

As He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath,

In response, Jesus asked the law experts and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not? ”

He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As usual, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.

Then He went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbath.

On a Sabbath, He passed through the grainfields. His disciples were picking heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.

Then He told them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

Within these lay a large number of the sick — blind, lame, and paralyzed — waiting for the moving of the water,

Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He doesn’t keep the Sabbath! ” But others were saying, “How can a sinful man perform such signs? ” And there was a division among them.
