He sent darkness, and it became dark — for did they not defy His commands?

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and awe-inspiring Day of the Lord comes.

Woe to you who long for the Day of the Lord! What will the Day of the Lord be for you? It will be darkness and not light.

And in that day — this is the declaration of the Lord God — I will make the sun go down at noon; I will darken the land in the daytime.

From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over the whole land.

The tombs were also opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised.
