One day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.

In such circumstances, I saw the wicked buried. They came and went from the holy place, and they were praised in the city where they did so. This too is futile.

All the kings of the nations lie in splendor, each in his own tomb.

What are you doing here? Who authorized you to carve out a tomb for yourself here, carving your tomb on the height and cutting a crypt for yourself out of rock?

“See that you don’t look down on one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of My Father in heaven.

He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

I tell you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his life?

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared — whose will they be? ’

He longed to be filled with what fell from the rich man’s table, but instead the dogs would come and lick his sores.

No one has ever seen God. The One and Only Son — the One who is at the Father’s side — He has revealed Him.

One of His disciples, the one Jesus loved, was reclining close beside Jesus.

So Peter turned around and saw the disciple Jesus loved following them. That disciple was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is the one that’s going to betray You? ”

Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation?

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death — that is, the Devil —

For the sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will wither away while pursuing his activities.

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness; you have been healed by His wounds.

Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write: The dead who die in the Lord from now on are blessed.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “let them rest from their labors, for their works follow them! ”
