Don’t criticize one another, brothers. He who criticizes a brother or judges his brother criticizes the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

Do not let a slanderer stay in the land. Let evil relentlessly hunt down a violent man.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Therefore, any one of you who judges is without excuse. For when you judge another, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things.

For the hearers of the law are not righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be declared righteous.

What should we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin if it were not for the law. For example, I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, Do not covet.

Therefore don’t judge anything prematurely, before the Lord comes, who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I will not find you to be what I want, and I may not be found by you to be what you want; there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

All bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice.

Wives, too, must be worthy of respect, not slanderers, self-controlled, faithful in everything.

In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not addicted to much wine. They are to teach what is good,

Don’t be deceived, my dearly loved brothers.

My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,

But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works — this person will be blessed in what he does.

Indeed, if you keep the royal law prescribed in the Scripture, Love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing well.

Brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience.

Therefore, brothers, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.

Brothers, do not complain about one another, so that you will not be judged. Look, the judge stands at the door!

So rid yourselves of all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slander.
