He said to me, ‘I will make you fruitful and numerous; I will make many nations come from you, and I will give this land as an eternal possession to your future descendants.’

Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the region of Goshen. They acquired property in it and became fruitful and very numerous.

Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, children, a reward.

So the Egyptians assigned taskmasters over the Israelites to oppress them with forced labor. They built Pithom and Rameses as supply cities for Pharaoh.

But the Israelites were fruitful, increased rapidly, multiplied, and became extremely numerous so that the land was filled with them.

“They will live in the land that I gave to My servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. They will live in it forever with their children and grandchildren, and My servant David will be their prince forever.

“I will turn to you, make you fruitful and multiply you, and confirm My covenant with you.

When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance and divided the human race, He set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the people of Israel.
