From there Abraham traveled to the region of the Negev and settled between Kadesh and Shur. While he lived in Gerar,

God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What’s wrong, Hagar? Don’t be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy from the place where he is.

Get up, help the boy up, and support him, for I will make him a great nation.”

Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the waterskin and gave the boy a drink.

But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham! ” He replied, “Here I am.”

Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven

The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from my native land, who spoke to me and swore to me, ‘I will give this land to your offspring’ — He will send His angel before you, and you can take a wife for my son from there.

And they settled from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite Egypt as you go toward Asshur. He lived in opposition to all his brothers.

In that dream the Angel of God said to me, ‘Jacob! ’ and I said, ‘Here I am.’

Then Moses led Israel on from the Red Sea, and they went out to the Wilderness of Shur. They journeyed for three days in the wilderness without finding water.

Then the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush. As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed.

The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, observing the wicked and the good.

Then Saul struck down the Amalekites from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is next to Egypt.
