Genesis 12:1

The Lord said to Abram: Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.

He also said to him, “I am Yahweh who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”

So when God had me wander from my father’s house, I said to her: Show your loyalty to me wherever we go and say about me: ‘He’s my brother.’ ”

You are Yahweh, the God who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans, and changed his name to Abraham.

Did the gods of the nations that my predecessors destroyed rescue them — Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the Edenites in Telassar?

I brought you from the ends of the earth and called you from its farthest corners. I said to you: You are My servant; I have chosen you and not rejected you.

Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who gave birth to you in pain. When I called him, he was only one; I blessed him and made him many.

“Son of man, those who live in the ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one person, yet he received possession of the land. But we are many; the land has been given to us as a possession.’

But he replied to him, “I don’t want to go. Instead, I will go to my own land and my relatives.”

Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord; do not touch any unclean thing, and I will welcome you.

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went out to a place he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going.

Then I heard another voice from heaven: Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins or receive any of her plagues.
