God called the expanse “sky.” Evening came and then morning: the second day.

You alone are Yahweh. You created the heavens, the highest heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them, and the heavenly host worships You.

He laid out the horizon on the surface of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.

He stretches the northern skies over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.

laying the beams of His palace on the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind,

He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses.

The sea is His; He made it. His hands formed the dry land.

All the streams flow to the sea, yet the sea is never full. The streams are flowing to the place, and they flow there again.

Do you not fear Me? This is the Lord’s declaration. Do you not tremble before Me, the One who set the sand as the boundary of the sea, an enduring barrier that it cannot cross? The waves surge, but they cannot prevail. They roar but cannot pass over it.

He answered them, “I’m a Hebrew. I worship Yahweh, the God of the heavens, who made the sea and the dry land.”

They willfully ignore this: Long ago the heavens and the earth were brought about from water and through water by the word of God.

He swore an oath by the One who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: “There will no longer be an interval of time,
