Elisha asked her, “What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house? ” She said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.”

But she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I don’t have anything baked — only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.”

After they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.” So Elisha answered, “Please, let me inherit two shares of your spirit.”

Then he said, “Go and borrow empty containers from everyone — from all your neighbors. Do not get just a few.

The Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand? ” “A staff,” he replied.

“How many loaves do you have? ” Jesus asked them. “Seven,” they said, “and a few small fish.”

But Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold, but what I have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk! ”

as grieving yet always rejoicing; as poor yet enriching many; as having nothing yet possessing everything.

Listen, my dear brothers: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that He has promised to those who love Him?
