Though I have many things to write to you, I don’t want to do so with paper and ink. Instead, I hope to be with you and talk face to face so that our joy may be complete.

He who has the bride is the groom. But the groom’s friend, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly at the groom’s voice. So this joy of mine is complete.

whenever I travel to Spain. For I hope to see you when I pass through, and to be assisted by you for my journey there, once I have first enjoyed your company for a while.

But meanwhile, also prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you.

And I especially urge you to pray that I may be restored to you very soon.

Be aware that our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes soon enough, he will be with me when I see you.

We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

This is why, if I come, I will remind him of the works he is doing, slandering us with malicious words. And he is not satisfied with that! He not only refuses to welcome the brothers himself, but he even stops those who want to do so and expels them from the church.
