It happened, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, 'This is your kindness which you shall show to me. Everywhere that we go, say of me, *He is my brother.*'*
The enemy said, 'I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the spoil. My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.'
Then said he to me, Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Yisra'el do in the dark, every man in his chambers of imagery? for they say, the LORD doesn't see us; the LORD has forsaken the land.
Please come now therefore curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may strike them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.
Woe to you, scribes and Perushim, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of Gehinnom as yourselves.
Those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and they will be glad. They will give gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
The people, the men of Yisra'el, encouraged themselves, and set the battle again in array in the place where they set themselves in array the first day.
