Moshe told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Par`oh and to the Egyptians for Yisra'el's sake, all the hardships that had come on them on the way, and how the LORD delivered them.
Nevertheless I withdrew my hand, and worked for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth.
You shall know that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for my name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, you house of Yisra'el, says the Lord GOD.
But I worked for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
For the Scripture says to Par`oh, *For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.*
For the Kena`anim and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will compass us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what will you do for your great name?
