*Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,* says the LORD; *I will set him in safety from those who malign him.*
All my bones shall say, *LORD, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?*
The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery; yes, they have vexed the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully.
The godly man has perished out of the earth, and there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; every man hunts his brother with a net.
He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn't own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep, and scatters them.
Therefore don't yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse neither to eat nor to drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you.*
