Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

Blessed is the man whom you discipline, the LORD, and teach out of your law;

One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.

Correct your son, and he will give you shalom; yes, he will bring delight to your soul.

You shall consider in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.

For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives.*

As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
